Lithophane lepida Grote, 1878 - No Common Name

Lithophane lepidaLithophane lepida
Taxonomy
Family: NoctuidaeSubfamily: NoctuinaeTribe: XyleniniP3 Number: 932558 MONA Number: 9925.00 MONA Synonym: Lithophane adipel
Comments: The taxon adipel has been variably treated as both a subspecies of L. lepida and as a full species by different authors. The two taxa represent slightly different adult phenotypes that differ in geographic range and possibly larval host plants. New DNA barcode data do not provide compelling evidence that L. lepida and L. adipel represent separate species, and adipel is now treated as a subspecies of L. lepida (Pohl and Nanz, 2023).
