Identification

Adult Markings: Similar in pattern to E. diversilineata but is usually paler and has two distinct dark lines crossing the median area, with the area in between filled with the pale ground color; in E. diversilineata, this area is filled with a darker brown shade (Forbes, 1948). The discal dot is also strongly contrasting in this species but is inconspicuous or absent in E. diversilineata.
Wingspan: 35-40 mm (Forbes, 1948)
Adult Structural Features: Eulithis gracilineata is larger than E. diversilineata (Forbes, 1948). There are also difference in the genitalia.
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: The range of habitats used by this species in North Carolina matches both that of Eulithis diversilineata and Muscadine Grape. These range from maritime dunes and forests, to swamp forests, bottomlands and mesic forests, xeric sand ridges and monadnocks, cove forests and high elevation hardwoods.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae reportedly feed on grape and Virginia Creeper (Wagner, 2005). There is also a BugGuide record (George Smiley, 2014) for a larva on Porcelain-berry (Ampelopsis glandulosa) in Texas. - View
