Structural photos
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.
Immatures and Development: The larval life history of this species is poorly documented. Marquis et al. (2019) found larvae on the upper leaf surfaces of oaks in Missouri in a web of silk with the edges of the leaf bent inward to form a shallow bowl. The head capsule and prothoracic shield of the late-instars are copper brown. Four thin copper brown stripes run the length of the thorax and abdomen that alternate with five lighter yellow-brown stripes. The subdorsal area has a dark brown stripe, and the thorax and abdomen are both yellow laterally (Marquis et al., 2019).

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Our records come from cove forests and northern hardwoods in the mountains, and mesic slopes and shorelines in the Piedmont and Coastal Plain.
Larval Host Plants: The larvae appear to specialize on members of the Fagaceae, primarily oaks (Schaffner, 1959; Prentice, 1966; Solis, 1991; Marquis et al., 2019). The reported hosts including American Beech (Fagus grandifolia), White Oak (Quercus alba), and Northern Red Oak (Q. rubra). - View
