Singing Behavior: One of the most easily heard katydids; not only is the volume of sound very large, a significant portion of the frequency range falls below 9 khz, i.e., within the range of human hearing. Large choruses sing antiphonally, with groups of synchronized males calling in alternation. These choruses, with their easily remembered mnemonic, is a widely recognized sound of summer nights.
