Comments: One of 21 species in this genus that occur in North America north of Mexico (Lafontaine and Schmidt, 2010), seven of which have been recorded in North Carolina.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Barrens, woodlands, and forests (Wagner, 2005). Our records come a wide range of hardwood forests and heathlands
Larval Host Plants: Polyphagous, feeding on a broad range of hardwood trees and shrubs (Wagner, 2005). As of 2024, we have observed it feeding on oak, maple, birch, hornbeam, hickory, dogwood, persimmon, tupelo, and beech in North Carolina. - View
