Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Barrens, woodlands, and forests (Wagner, 2005). Our records come a wide range of hardwood forests and heathlands.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are polyphagous, feeding on a broad range of hardwood trees and shrubs (Wagner, 2005). In North Carolina, larvae have been observed feeding on Florida Maple (Acer floridanum), Red Maple (A. rubrum), Flowering Dogwood (Benthamidia florida), River Birch (Betula nigra), American Hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana), hickory (Carya sp.), American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana), American Beech (Fagus grandifolia), Black Gum (Nyssa sylvatica), White Oak (Quercus alba), Willow Oak (Q. phellos), and Stiff Dogwood (Swida foemina). - View
