Structural photos
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.
Immatures and Development: Larvae were found in North Carolina feeding on the flowers of Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium. Numerous flowers were bound together with silk to form a thick mat, and pupation occurred within the mat. An adult emerged about three week after late-instar larvae were found.
Larvae ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos, especially where associated with known host plants.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Our records come mainly from open, herbaceous areas, including old fields, dune grasslands, savannas, and pond and lake shorelines.
Larval Host Plants: Reported hosts include Pearly Everlasting (Anaphalis sp.), rabbit-tobacco (Pseudognaphalium), and Saltmarsh Fleabane (Pluchea odorata) (Robinson et al., 2010). As of 2025, we have one rearing record for Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium. - View
